What Is a Non-Surgical Facelift?

If you have age-related concerns such as wrinkles, loose skin, loss of volume, and more, there are many options available to help boost your appearance. While facelift surgery is a method that many people choose to lift sagging skin and achieve a more youthful appearance, invasive procedures can come with long downtimes and difficult recoveries. With a liquid facelift, you won’t have to worry about incisions or downtimes.

At Luxx Med Spa in Cedar Knolls, we offer customized non-surgical facelift treatments that can help you address wrinkles, skin laxity, and more without having to go under the knife.

What Is a Liquid Facelift?

A liquid facelift is a treatment that combines multiple different products to help refresh your appearance. By using injectables instead of surgery, you can enjoy fewer wrinkles, plump lips, and a beautifully contoured face without having to take any time off of work. At our clinic, we use a combination of neuromodulators, dermal fillers, and other injectables to create a plan that is customized according to your concerns.

What Injectables Can Be Used During a Liquid Facelift?

Neuromodulators

One of the primary concerns with many individuals who are starting to notice aging in their skin is wrinkles. Some of the first wrinkles that can begin to appear are dynamic wrinkles. This are the deep lines that form because of repetitive facial expressions. Some of the most common locations for dynamic wrinkles are next to the eyes, on the forehead, and in between the eyebrows. Any wrinkle that is caused by muscle movement can be treated using neuromodulators.

A neuromodulator is a medication that is used to relax the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. By interrupting the transmission of signals from the nerve to the muscle, the medication is able to soften these muscle contractions and smooth out the resulting wrinkles. Common neuromodulators include Botox®, Dysport®, and Jeaveau®. All of these products share the same active ingredient, Botulinum Toxin A. However, the formula varies slightly from brand to brand. We use each product for slightly different applications to help smooth out frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and more.

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

Because neuromodulators are only effective on dynamic wrinkles, we use other products to help address fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of volume in other parts of the face. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be used to help fill in areas that have become sunken as a result of a loss of fat in the skin. It can also help support the skin to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

Hyaluronic acid is a material that occurs naturally in the body. It helps to keep your joints lubricated and your skin moisturized. When injected by a professional injector, hyaluronic acid gel can fill in areas of your face for several months before being harmlessly reabsorbed by your body.

Juvederm® and Restylane® are two types of HA fillers that we use. They are commonly used to plump the lips, fill in wrinkles, and add volume and contour to areas such as the chin, jawline, temples, cheeks, and more. If you have sagging jowls, vertical lip lines, sunken cheeks, hollow temples, or other volume concerns, they can be effectively treated with HA dermal fillers.

Sculptra®

Sculptra is also a dermal filler, but it works in a different way and can be used to achieve more long-term rejuvenation effects. This injectable is made from poly-L-lactic acid. This biocompatible ingredient can trigger skin rejuvenation. While the carrier water in this injectable can cause a temporary filling result for one or two days after treatment, the effectiveness of this product comes in its ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the areas that you wish to have treated.

When injected into the skin, the tiny particles of Poly-L-lactic acid, also known as PLLA, begin to stimulate a controlled response in the skin. When your body detects the PLLA particles, it sends out fibroblasts which are responsible, in part, for collagen synthesis. This brand-new collagen can help support the skin which may produce a natural lifting and rejuvenation. Sculptra is indicated for nasolabial folds but can be used effectively in other areas to help fill in folds and wrinkles.

Sculptra is beneficial because it can be a longer-lasting treatment. Many people notice the benefits of Sculptra treatments for at least two years. Sculptra is usually injected in three treatment sessions which are scheduled between two and four weeks apart.

Combining Treatments for a Liquid Facelift

Because each of our injectables is indicated for different uses, sometimes combining these treatments can create an overall more effective result. As part of our liquid facelift, we have a consultation with you to determine which of these products may be the best for your situation. If you have dynamic wrinkles, loss of volume in your cheeks, and deep nasolabial folds, you may benefit from all three types of treatment. However, at our clinic, we only recommend the products that we think would be most beneficial for you.

Once you have had your consultation, we can begin treatments. Some products such as our neuromodulators and HA fillers will need to be repeated several times per year if you want to continue enjoying their benefits. However, other products such as Sculptra may need fewer maintenance sessions.
