What Does Halo Laser Do?
The handheld Halo Laser combines several technologies to provide a unique skin treatment. The Halo Laser is a hybrid fractional laser that combines ablative and non-ablative lasers in one model. In addition to a built-in cooling system, the Halo Laser has an intuitive mapping to aid the physician in treating your affected skin evenly and efficiently. The physician can also adjust the power of the lasers as needed, which makes the cosmetic treatment much more comfortable than other laser treatments.
This laser technology can treat superficial and deep skin layers. The ablative laser removes the top layer of skin to promote new collagen growth. The non-ablative laser treats the underlying skin without damaging and removing the upper layers of skin to boost collagen and elastin production. This revolutionary device can treat skin issues like discoloration, large pores, scars, sun spots, uneven skin, wrinkles, and sun damage.
Types of Halo Laser Treatments
The Halo Fractional Laser combines both ablative and non-ablative laser treatments into one to combat any skin issues you may have.
Ablative laser treatments are generally for more serious skin issues like uneven skin tone, acne scars, chickenpox scars, liver spots, and more. This cosmetic treatment works by stripping away the top layer of your skin with the laser to encourage your skin to heal with new collagen production.
Non-Ablative treatments work by warming the underlying skin below the surface to produce and encourage collagen growth. Issues like age spots, scars, sun damage, and wrinkles are commonly treated with this non-invasive treatment.

Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser Procedure
The Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser procedure generally lasts from 15 to 30 minutes, with additional time for applying a topical anesthetic or cream to your skin prior to starting the procedure. After a designated wait time for the numbing cream or topical anesthetic to take effect, the physician will shield your eyes if necessary and begin to measure your skin with the Halo device.
Dr. Nusbaum will then make multiple passes with the handheld laser over the affected areas. The laser is rolled over your skin, and the physician will use the built-in motion-tracking technology to measure their progress and ensure they treat the entire desired.
Halo Laser Aftercare
After your cosmetic procedure, you can expect to have a burning sensation along with some swelling for the first two days. Applying a cold compress can help reduce this redness and swelling. You can easily cover a lighter treatment with makeup.
Most people can expect to be back to a regular routine within a few days, but you can expect different recovery results depending on your procedure. More severe treatments can cause your skin to bronze and peel. After your skin peels, your skin will be pink for about another week, but it can also be covered up easily by makeup.
Halo Laser vs. BBL Hero
Both of these skin treatments are very similar in what they deliver. BBL Hero and Halo Laser can treat sun damage, uneven skin discoloration, age spots, acne, and wrinkles, among other conditions. Both cosmetic treatments offer noticeable and long-lasting results but require different amounts of sessions to have similar results. Depending on the severity of your skin issues, you may need to have around 4-5 BBL Hero sessions to match 1-2 Halo Laser treatments.
