ABOUT DERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning is performed by our medical estheticians and is a safe and effective procedure that can be customized to meet the needs of all skin types. Dermaplaning is a mechanical exfoliation of the skin with a thin blade. This technique frees the skin of dull, dead cellular layers and removes the fine vellus hair, otherwise called “peach fuzz”.

Once the mechanical exfoliation process is completed, an enzymatic exfoliation of the skin with the application of glycolic or lactic hydroxy acid is used to free pores of impacted debris. Blackheads and milia will be extracted manually and the use of medical grade skin will be applied to complete this red-carpet ready treatment. Dermaplaning has no downtime and patients can resume their normal activities after. Dermaplaning can be used alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as a HydraFacial or Chemical Peel. Dermaplaning is an excellent treatment for all skin types and can be done monthly to help maintain the health of your skin.

BENEFITS OF DERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning is ideal for every skin type and is beneficial for acne scarring and sun damaged skin. This treatment also improves skin texture and tone, clogged and enlarged pores, pigmentation concerns and gives overall skin rejuvenation. With the removal of dry, dead skin, the application of medical grade products can penetrate deeper into the skin, be more effective and creates a beautiful canvas of skin for perfect makeup application!

DERMAPLANING FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

Only individuals with active acne or those who are on Accutane are not a candidate for Dermaplaning. This is a great treatment for pregnant or nursing clients who want a deep exfoliation but are not allowed to use acids and other ingredients on the skin. We recommend Dermaplaning for clients prone to broken capillaries and should not do Microdermabrasion or for clients with excess vellus hair on the face.

WILL HAIR GROW BACK THICKER OR DARKER?

This is a common misunderstanding, and the answer is no. Dermaplaning will not cause the hair to grow back thicker or darker, this is physiologically impossible. The soft, fine vellus hair will grow slowly – usually in about 3 – 4 weeks.
