What Is a Liquid Facelift?

A liquid facelift is similar to a facelift without surgery. The goal of a liquid facelift is to restore lost volume, fill in lines and creases in the skin, and give the skin an overall rejuvenating glow, all without the need for an invasive surgical procedure.

Each liquid facelift is customized to treat specific concerns, which might include:

  • Forehead creases
  • Crow’s feet (lines around the eyes)
  • Under-eye hollowness
  • Marionette lines (lines that go from the corners of the mouth to the chin)
  • Nasolabial folds (creases from the base of the nose to the corners of the mouth)
  • Sagging jawline
  • Fine lines around the mouth

Liquid facelifts are done non-surgically. Only liquid injectables are used, including multiple types of neuromodulators and fillers.

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators are just one of the popular types of injectables used to perform a liquid facelift, as they effectively help put a stop to common signs of aging.

What They Are and How They Work

Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, and Jeauveu are injectable cosmetic treatments used primarily to treat signs of aging, including lines and wrinkles. These products temporarily reduce or stop muscle movement.

Some fine lines and creases are created due to excess muscle movement. When muscles constantly move on the face, these contractions eventually lead to the formation of lines and wrinkles.

Muscles move due to signals from nerves. Botox contains botulinum toxin A. When injected in small doses, this toxin blocks nerve signals, resulting in a reduction or complete stop of muscle contractions.

Neuromodulators are injected throughout the treatment area, depending on your needs. In the days following these injections, muscle movement gradually begins to slow, contributing to a smoother appearance of the skin.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectables that treat areas that have suffered volume loss or would benefit from a plumper appearance. They’re often used to fill in existing lines and creases, helping provide a youthful glow to the skin.

What They Are and How They Work

There are a variety of dermal fillers, and each is used to accomplish certain goals. Two of the most popular fillers we use are Restylane and Sculptra.

The most important ingredient in Restylane is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally produced in the body. It is responsible for many things, including keeping skin looking plump, hydrated, and healthy.

Once injected, Restylane can provide fullness and volume in areas that need it most, such as the lips. This injectable product provides soft, beautiful, and natural-looking results.

Sculptra is a unique type of dermal filler. It contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Once injected, this product fills in areas that require plumpness. However, what sets this product apart is the way it works to encourage collagen production.

Collagen is a protein the body naturally produces. As you age, collagen production slows, affecting how the skin looks and feels. Sculptra injections stimulate the body’s collagen production to provide longer-lasting results than many other aesthetic treatments.

Dermal fillers can give the skin the extra boost it needs for a renewed and rejuvenated appearance.

What to Expect During a Liquid Facelift

After determining that a facelift without surgery will help you meet your goals, we’ll tailor our approach to your specific wants and needs.

Before your injections, we’ll numb the treatment site with topical numbing cream. In addition, some dermal fillers contain lidocaine to help you stay comfortable during the injections.

We will inject neuromodulators and dermal fillers carefully and precisely throughout every targeted area. Liquid facelift procedures last around 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the number and size of treatment sites.

Once your liquid facelift is complete, you can relax for a while before you’re free to go and continue your day.

Advantages of a Liquid Facelift

Liquid facelifts have increased in popularity for the many advantages they offer patients. Some of the benefits of these procedures include:

  • Quick and effective anti-aging treatment
  • Non-surgical facelift results
  • Natural-looking, long-lasting results
  • Youthful, rejuvenated appearance
  • Little to no downtime

The liquid facelift is like a facelift without surgery, so you won’t have to worry about extensive downtime. If you’re looking for a fast and simple way to give your skin the boost it needs, this could be the right treatment for you.

Non-Surgical Facelift — Important Details

If you’re interested in getting a liquid facelift, you might have several questions. Below are some of the details patients most commonly want to know.

Downtime

With the liquid facelift, there is minimal downtime. After your treatment, we recommend taking it easy and avoiding strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours. Patients are usually able to return to normal daily activity right after treatment.

Results

Results from neuromodulators and dermal fillers differ. For neuromodulators like Botox, results are not immediate. It takes time for the product to work, with final results usually seen within a week or two and lasting anywhere from three to six months.

For dermal fillers, you’ll likely see a difference right after your treatment, with the area improving in appearance within a few days as the product settles in. Depending on the fillers you get, you’ll be able to enjoy your results for nine months to two years.
